How do we proceed during the asbestos inventory?

From 2022:

From November 23, 2022, the asbestos certificate test is mandatory for sales for buildings and structures built before 2001. As a certified asbestos expert 'inventory', we can carry out an asbestos inventory for the preparation of an asbestos certificate.

This is done by means of a building inspection during a site visit. We report the inspection data via an OVAM database and on the basis of this OVAM issues an asbestos certificate.

The inventory for an asbestos certificate test is 'non-destructive'. It only describes the asbestos sources that can pose a risk in the daily use of the building. This mainly concerns directly observable materials. During the inspection, walls or floors are never damaged in order to detect embedded asbestos.

This does happen when drawing up a destructive asbestos inventory.

What is Asbestos?

Asbestos is a collective name for a number of naturally occurring minerals with a fibrous structure. It is a harmful substance that is used in more than 3500 building materials. Corrugated sheet, pipe insulation, fiberboard, window sills, linoleum, mastic; these are just a few examples of products in which asbestos was processed until the end of the last century.

It is not surprising that asbestos became so popular. It is cheap, wear-resistant, durable and non-flammable. Only later did it become generally known that asbestos poses major health risks, such as lung cancer.
